In November 1975, Rabbi Elimelech and Chaya Sarah Silberberg arrived in West Bloomfield as shluchim (emissaries) of the Lubavitcher Rebbe. Over more than 50 years of dedicated leadership, they transformed a fledgling shul that barely attracted a minyan into a thriving Torah Center serving the entire Metro Detroit area. Embracing people of all observance levels, they have infused the growing congregation with a deep sense of family. Rabbi Silberberg takes the time to know each congregant personally, greeting every guest at his Shabbat or holiday table with a heartfelt l'chaim! and words of Torah.

Rabbi Silberberg serves as a tireless spiritual leader, scholar, and teacher, offering classes on virtually every subject in Judaism and authoring three scholarly texts on Jewish law. Even in the worst weather, he will proudly show up to teach a class of just one student. Beyond the synagogue, he sits on the Presidium of the Council of Orthodox Rabbis of Detroit, serves as executive director of F.R.E.E. (Friends of Refugees of Eastern Europe), and sits on multiple local and national boards.

Rebbetzin Chaya Sarah serves as a dynamic role model and a pillar of strength for the community and beyond. Known for her quick wit, straightforward style, and legendary Shabbat hospitality, she leads multiple women's study groups, provides personal counseling, and delivers fresh, homemade challah to those experiencing a lifecycle event or illness.

Together for over half a century, the Silberbergs have lived out the Rebbe's mission as true lamplighters, igniting the divine spark within every individual and illuminating the community with a profound love for G‑d, Torah, and Jewish life.
